April Camp-In and Pack Meeting

Step right up, scouts and parents of all ages!!
Come and witness the amazing sights and sounds, and spectacles of the annual Camp-In
This years theme:
Cardboard forts and marshmallow wars
Yes, That's Right!!
A friendly competition to see which den can make the best cardboard fort
AND
Defend it against a barrage of marshmallows
HAZZAH!!
April 18th Pack meeting-7-8pm, building 1&2 fairgrounds with the Camp-In following from
8pm to 9am in the same building.
All family members are invited to camp and play with the Pack. Parents are asked to keep track of their kids.
There will be lots of boxes and supplies to make a fort of your imagination. During the Pack meeting each Scout will make their own marshmallow gun from PVC piping.
A Camp-In is camping inside instead of outside.
-Bring your camping equipment and set-up camp inside the building.
-Bring something soft to lay on, the floor is concrete.
-Bring sleeping bags or blanket and a pillow.
-Bring a tent. They work great and add to the camping feeling.
-Bring a flashlight.
-Bring 1-2 bags of mini marshmallows too.
We will provide something to drink and a snack, so eat dinner before you come.
In the morning we will provide a simple breakfast before we clean-up and leave.

Adult Scout Training

All Scouts deserve a trained leader. Get started today.

We would like all parents to complete Youth Protection Training and FAST Start training in their first year in scouts. But, we encourage any parent to complete additional training too. Below are the different training opportunities scouting offers. Some of them can be done at home on the Internet. Most of them will require attending a part or full day training class. As we learn about upcoming classes we will post them on the Pack's calender on this blogsite as well as Pack meetings and home mailings.
STEP 1
Fast Start Training & Youth Protection Training
The first step is getting trained is to complete Fast Start and Youth Protection Training. Both are available on-line and at monthly Roundtable meetings. Go to the bottom of the home page on this site for a link to these two classes.
Fast Start
-Required for all leaders and teaches how to plan and conduct successful den and pack meetings.
Youth Protection Training
-Required for all leaders and teaches awareness of child abuse.
STEP 2
New Leader Essentials training

Required for all leaders and gives overview of your role as a leader in scouts.
STEP 3
Cub Scout Leader Training

-Webelos Leaders Outdoor Experience, WLOE
Required for all Webelos leaders wanting to go camping with their den. Teaches outdoor-related skills through demonstration and hands-on practice.
-Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation, BALOO
Required for adult leaders in charge of planning a campout for their den or pack. It teaches how to plan and conduct safe outdoor activities to include camping. 1-day class.
-Cub Scout Job Specific training
Required for all leaders and gives an overview of specific requirements for each position within the Pack.
-Pow-Wow or University of Scouting
Annual gathering of Cub Scout leaders who attend fun classes to learn about all the different activities you can do in scouting.
-Woodbadge
Advanced training in leadership skills for all adult scout leaders. Involves classroom, projects, and camping.

Webelos Graduation Weekend

All current scouts in the Bear and Webelos dens can attend this weekend campout.
This is a district wide event for Douglas County (Pelathe district)

Cost is pending but range 5-10 per scout.
We will camp as a group.

Activities will be divided up between the 2 dens. The breakdown has not been published yet.
There will be a lot of fun activities, and a great opportunity to earn Webelos requirements towards Arrow of Light award.

Day Camp

SPY CUBS
PLATHE DISTRICT CUB SCOUT
DAY CAMP
JUNE 2-6, 2008
DOUGLAS COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS
Day Camp is an important part of the Scouting program and the Pelathe district has become well known in hosting an event that is fun, exciting, and memorable for the Cub Scouts. A great experience for the Cubs encourages them to stay in the Scouting program and start down the trail to Eagle.
Event details:
The specific list of activities and daily schedule has not been published as of 3/11/08. When it is released, they will be posted on this site.
I want my kid to attend Day Camp. How do I sign-up?
Contact your den leader and tell them you want to attend camp or contact Joe at jstellwagon@sunflower.com or 841-9405.
I need to know if your son is attending camp and the appropriate fee paid to Pack 3052 by April 7th.
The fee schedule is as follows:
Before April 9th $45
After April 9th $60
New registered Scouts will pay $45 with no late fee if after April 9th.
Can I apply for a camping scholarship to help with camp fees?
Yes, the deadline for turning that form into your den leader or cubmaster is March 24th. You can print off the form by using the link at the bottom of this blogsite. New scouts joining after April can also submit a scholarship form, but they could receive partial scholarship based on available funds.
Do I need to help at camp?
Each parent is asked to help at camp by working as a Walking Leader on one of the five days of camp. We will be required to provide 1 Walking Leader for each 5 scouts, but details about this are still pending and will be published on this site as soon as we get it. In the meantime, please look at that week and see if there is a day that you can come to camp. There is no fee for Walking Leaders.
Youth Protection Training
All parents helping at camp need to complete Youth Protection Training. There will be classes coming up in April, May and the night before camp starts. It can also be completed on-line. There is a link at the bottom of this blogsite that will take you to the training site.
Walking Leader Training
All parents are encouraged to attend a Walking Leader training class. This class will tell you all about Day Camp plus time for questions and answers. As a bonus, the Youth Protection training is usually included. When the dates are released for this class they will be posted on this site.
What else do I need to know?
If you attend a Walking Leader training class you will know it all. But, in general here is a list of needs.
-Each scout needs to wear their camp shirt each day of scouts regardless of how dirty it may be. They don't allow non-camp shirts because it makes it harder to tell the difference between a scout at camp and a child that walks up to the camp to watch.
-Each scout needs to pack lunch. All lunches will be put in a refrigerator for storage until lunch.
-Each scout needs to carry a water bottle with them during camp.
-They need to wear shoes not sandals because they will play various field sports like kickball.
-Pack non-aerosol sunscreen or bug spray.
